In a quest to enhance the local consumption of chocolate and cocoa products in Ghana, the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has marked National Chocolate Day in Koforidua.

GTA, as part of the celebration, visited St. Joseph’s Hospital, the pediatric ward, and the Eastern Regional Hospital to donate cocoa products as a way of showing love to children receiving health care at the various hospitals.

The National Chocolate Day celebration coincided with Valentine’s Day in Ghana. GTA aims to promote the consumption of chocolate and cocoa products for healthy living and to push domestic tourism to a higher level.

Madam Dinah Adu-Owusu, the Eastern Regional Head of the GTA, explained that the visitation to the hospitals was to demonstrate love and care for Ghanaians.

Speaking to the press, Madam Dinah Owusu believes that the celebration will help Ghanaians to realize the health and nutritional benefits of cocoa and other cocoa-based products in the country.

She indicated that the chocolate day celebration signifies true love and care for families and individuals, adding that GTA will continue to promote sustainable development of the tourism industry.

Madam Dinah Owusu says they will work hard to enhance tourism both locally and internationally.

Madam Dinah Owusu, during the visitation, also prayed for children admitted at the hospitals.

The Eastern Regional Minister, Hon. Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, who joined GTA in the National Chocolate Day celebration at various hospitals, promised that the government will put measures in place to uplift health care delivery in the region.

She advised Ghanaians to show love to their fellow citizens as part of the National Chocolate Day celebration.

She assured to create a conducive health and educational environment to make children happy.
