‘Tsofi’ a popular meat confiscated by FDA at Suhum, Nsawam in swoop

Officials of the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) in the Eastern Region have embarked on an operation to “ensure a healthier Christmas”.

The operation was conducted in Suhum and Nsawam on traders selling turkey tail, popularly known as ‘Tsofi’.

According to the FDA, the product has been banned in Ghana since 1999, but it continues to be sold by the traders.

The product is a popular delicacy for commuters on the Suhum-Nsawam stretch of the Accra-Kumasi highway.

Monday’s operation was conducted by the Authority in collaboration with the Ghana Police Service.
