The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) during their nationwide revenue mobilization at Aburi in the Eastern Region discovered that one of the top hotels in Aburi (Hillburi Hotel) had done an illegal connection and using power illegally without paying bills.
According to the mobilization team, when they got to the premises, they suspected an illegal connection per the behaour of the staffs and so they were pushed to run a system check
After the search they found out that the hotel for several years has been engaging in an illegal connection, the hotel had an underground bypass serving all their gudgets and so they do not pay electricity bills.
The team disconnected and took the hotel off their system and said they will take them through prosecution as soon as possible.
The ECG has been embarking on an nationwide exercise to clamp down on illegal connections and revenue mobilization and this was yet another exercise conducted.
