Some unknown persons have started destroying huge billboards mounted in the Akuapem area about this year’s Odwira festival by Okuapehene Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo III.
A giant billboard erected at Akuapem Larteh junction has been tattered.
“This shall not stop Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo III from being the Okuapehene neither will it affect the Odwira in any way … it’s a shame in this century we still have people who call themselves Akuapemfo but can’t portray the astuteness of an Akuapem indigene. Put all chieftaincy interests aside, tradition is tradition, let’s respect our tradition and help protect our kingdom.

The legitimacy of Okuapehene Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo III is being challenged at the National House of Chiefs by Okuapehemaa Nana Obuor Nketia.
According to the petitioner, the enstoolment of Okuapehene was done in breach of customs and tradition as she the Queenmother was circumvented in the enstoolment processes.
Owing to this, the President of Akuapem Traditional Council also Aburihene Otoobuor Gyan Kwasi II announced a month ago that, there will not be durbar and carrying of chiefs in paraquine to celebrate the Odwira festival.
One person was recently shot and his injured leg was subsequently amputated after the Akuapem Baamuhene Nana Afari Bampoe and his traditional army invaded the house Okuapehemaa for breaching a ban on noise-making ahead of Odwira.
