The Paramount Chief of Tepa Nana Adusei Ampem I has urged the newly elected President and Council Members of the National Association of Local Authorities Ghana (NALAG) to make it an urgent priority to fight for resources and support for Metropolitan, Municipal, and District assemblies to drive development.

Nana Adusei Ampem I said the success and the failure of any government rely greatly on the district, municipal or metropolitan assemblies hence he challenged the new president and the council members of NALAG to work in tangent with the district assemblies and empower them with the needed resources to make the government a successful government.

He said NALAG should be seen and acts as an agent that awakes and strengthen districts and municipal assemblies that are challenged and weak regarding mobilization of resources for development.

He further congratulated the newly elected President and Council Members for their victory in the maiden edition of the NALAG elections.

On the other hand, the Eastern Regional Minister, Hon. Seth Kwame Acheampong, said NALAG is an important institution that plays a critical role in all the 261 assemblies whose aim is to strengthen local governance in Ghana.

The minister advised the newly elected President and Council Members of NALAG to serve well in their various positions respectively since God has given them the wisdom to lead in the current dispensation.

Meanwhile, Nana Agyemang Prempeh who is the newly elected President of NALAG revealed what necessitated the thanksgiving service and said the governance structure of every country largely depends on the local government hence the need to have active local governance under his leadership to drive development in all the assemblies in Ghana.

Apostle Samuel Osei Asante who is the Koforidua Area Head of the Church of Pentecost explained the essence of thanksgiving to God stating that God appreciates grateful people.
